State-run Pakistan State Oil (PSO) announced that its petrol pumps across the country have been providing petrol to masses without any interruption contrary to the indefinite strike called by Petroleum Dealers Association, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Energy Minister Hammad Azhar said that few companies and groups wanted a Rs9 in profit margin but the government would not allow this to happen in the pretext of few groups.

Hammad Azhar said the government will accept only fair demands but warned that those seeking a nine-rupee raise will be disappointed. “It is not appropriate to disturb the public,” the minister added.

He also advised petrol pump owners to review their strike call decision.

PSO, in a statement issued said, “All our Company Owned, Company Operated (COCO) stations nationwide will remain open and continue to function normally. As always, PSO stands strong with the nation in such challenging times.”

The Ministry of Energy also said that PSO, HECOL and GO petrol pumps would continue to provide petrol to the public amid the strike call by petroleum associations.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Umer Sher Chatha said 62 petrol stations of different companies, including the PSO, were open for motorists across the city.
