The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued an invitation letter to foreign observers, stating that they can submit their documents to the “Pakistan Online Portal” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get visas quickly, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
“The ECP believes that there is an open-door policy for domestic and foreign observers for the transparency of elections,” the ECP said.
“Foreign observers will have to get accreditation from the ECP after arriving in Pakistan,” it stated.
“The accreditation forms can be downloaded from the ECP’s website. However, accreditation will not be issued to persons with political affiliations,” it added.
“The security clearance for foreign observers has been made mandatory,” it declared.
It has been mentioned in the ECP’s invitation letter that foreign observers should submit their reports on the irregularities in elections.
Foreign observers can also make suggestions in their report to further improve the electoral process, the ECP letter said.
