Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has divided into groups over the emerging political relations with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in the current scenario when the party has a big vote bank and administrative stronghold in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, sources within PTI have revealed that a faction of the party was unhappy with the growing ties, fearing it could harm PTI’s vote bank in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Leaders such as KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Shibli Faraz, along with several others, are reportedly displeased with the idea of a political partnership with JUI-F.
The channel reported that these leaders argue that such an alliance with Maulana Fazlur Rehman could weaken PTI’s influence in KP.
Additionally, supporters of Mehmood Khan Achakzai are also uncomfortable with the notion of giving Maulana Fazlur Rehman a leading role in this potential collaboration.
Many key PTI leaders from both the national and KP chapters, including Ali Amin Gandapur, have expressed dissatisfaction with Asad Qaiser's reconciliatory approach towards Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has even advised Asad Qaiser and others to exercise caution in developing ties with the JUI-F leader.
