AIOU postpones exams as Varsities in Sindh, KP suspend routine classes

The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has cancelled all graduate and post-graduate exams in view of the surge in the coronavirus pandemic cases reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Sources told 24News that the university would now announce the new schedule for the exams after Eidul Fitr.
Similarly, academic activities at Dawood University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi have been suspended and exams have also been postponed.
According to the notification issued by Dawood University Registrar Syed Asif Ali Shah, acting upon the alert issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and the government of Sindh about an increase in cases of the pandemic, the university has been closed from today (Monday, April 26) till May 14, 2021.
The notification further reads that the ongoing Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Architect exams have also been postponed. “New dates for these exams will be announced later; however, the offices of the administration will remain open with 50 per cent attendance,” adds the notification.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to start online classes at the province’s universities keeping in view the increase in Covid-19 cases.
Special Assistant to KP Chief Minister Kamran Bangash has said that there will be online classes at universities in the province's 28 districts.
