Sindh governor okays bill making mandatory children’s vaccination

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tesori has approved the Sindh Immunization and Epidemics Control Bill 2023, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.
The Sindh Assembly passed the bill to bring in the regime of compulsory vaccination of children against preventable infectious diseases.
Under the bill, the parents and guardians will be penalised for refusing to get their children vaccinated, depriving their children of health rights.
The deputy commissioners are authorized to punish the parents/ guardians and in case of refusal, parents/ guardians may face one-month imprisonment and up to Rs50,000.
Up to 12 different vaccinations were necessary for safeguarding the health of children.
The government faced troubles in certain underprivileged areas in the province where parents were not willing to get their children vaccinated, due to which the government wanted to make immunisation of the children compulsory.
