The shockwaves from Pakistan's 10-wicket loss to Bangladesh in the first Test at Rawalpindi continue to resound, with former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi openly criticizing the pitch preparation and team selection.
Afridi, known for his candid opinions, expressed his disappointment and concern over the choices made by the team management, particularly the decision to exclude a specialist spinner.
Taking to social media, X, formerly known as Twitter, Afridi expressed his frustration, pointing out the apparent lack of strategic planning that led to the humiliating defeat.
"A 10-wicket defeat raises serious questions about the decision to prepare this type of pitch, select four fast bowlers and leave out a specialist spinner.
This to me clearly shows a lack of awareness about home conditions," Afridi tweeted.
Afridi also acknowledged Bangladesh's performance, giving credit to the visitors for their disciplined and effective brand of cricket.
"That said, you cannot take the credit away from Bangladesh for the brand of cricket they played throughout the Test," Afridi added in his X, recognizing the skill and strategy that led to Bangladesh's first-ever Test win against Pakistan.
