Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved the formation of the Central Selection Board, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to a notification from the Establishment Division received by 24 News, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved the formation of the Central Selection Board scheduled for December 23 to 27 to approve the promotion of federal bureaucrats to Grade 20 and 21.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, the chairman of the board will be Lieutenant General (retd) Akhtar Nawaz Satti, Chairman Federal Public Service Commission.

Three members of parliament Senator Sadia Abbasi, Senator Saleem Mandviwala and MNA Javed Hanif Khan have been made board members while 4 government officers have also been appointed as board members. 

These officers include Secretary Finance Division Imdadullah Bosal from Punjab, retired Grade 22 officer Rabia Javeria Agha from Sindh, Secretary Maritime Affairs Division Syed Zafar Ali Shah from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and retired Grade 22 officer Ghiyasuddin from Balochistan have been nominated as a board member, while the officers nominated by the post, Secretary Establishment Division, Secretary Cabinet Division and the four provincial chief secretaries are also included in the board. 

Moreover, in the cases of promotion of police officers, the IG Police of all provinces and the Federal Secretary Interior will also attend the meeting, while the secretary of the ministry whose officers will be promoted will participate. 

The Director General IB and the Director General ISI will participate in the cases of promotion of officers of their institutions. 

The meeting of the Central Selection Board will be held under the chairmanship of the Chairman FPSC on 23, 24, 26 and 27 December in the committee room of the Establishment Division.

In the meeting, recommendations will be made to promote all service groups, as well as ex-cadre officers to Grade 20 and 21. 

The final approval of the board recommendations will be given by the Prime Minister. 

It should be remembered that due to the non-convention of the Central Selection Board meeting, promotion of more than 400 officers of 12 federal service cadres has been pending from one year and four months. 

According to the rules, the Central Selection Board meeting should be held twice a year. 

However, the Central Selection Board meeting could not be held after August 1-4, 2023 last year. 

Due to this, more than 400 grade 19 and 20 officers of Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service, Secretariat Group, Pakistan Railways, Pakistan Postal Service, Economist Group, Information Service Group, Audit and Accounts Service Group, Inland Revenue, Customs Service Group, Commerce and Trade Service Group, Military Land and Cantonment Board Service have been waiting for promotion for a year and four months.
