Corruption is the root cause of every vice and a thorough surgery was required to root out this menace, said NAB Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal on Tuesday
He was chairing a meeting of the Executive Board of the National Accountability Bureau in Islamabad which was also attended by Deputy Chairman, Prosecutors, DGs and other senior officials.
Several important decisions including the approval of references against corruption, inquiries and investigations were taken at the meeting.
NAB chairman said that “we would take the mega corruption scandals to its logical conclusion”, adding “It is NAB’s ultimate resolve to ensure corruption-free Pakistan.”
He also recalled the achievement of his institution, saying, “In the past two years, NAB filed 610 references of corruption and recovered 178 billion rupees.”
“Our performance has not only been praised within Pakistan but also by the international institutions,” Javed said, adding that in different scandals NAB had recovered the plundered money from 45 accused.
