Before the tabling of Constituional Amendments BIll 2024 in Senate, PTI Senator Barrister Ali Zafar said that consensus is very important for constitutional amendments without legislation causes damages to the nation. Ali Zafar claimed that the way legislation was being made by the government is against the constitution and violation of laws. He claimed that for constitutional public consent is mandatory.


He said it is not constitutional to kidnap children, wife and other members of the family for seeking support of the members for the amendments. Senator Ali Zafar claimed that till today PTI lawmakers are missing. He said PTI parliamentary committee had decided that PTI will not vote for constitutional amendments. PTI Parliamentary Leader Ali Zafar said the 1962 constitution was not a consensus of the nation which died its own death. Two governments have fallen victim to Article 58 of the Constitution. He said PTI comrades did not come for fear of arrest. The act of voting for constitutional amendment by the people is not involving the consent of the people. PTI Barrister Ali Zafar on Sunday asked Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to not consider the vote of any of the PTI members on the package.


Addressing the Senate session, Senator Zafar said: "It has been rumored that some of our companions will be present before the parliament. It is unfair to take the vote for the constitutional amendment by "compelling" people. "They [PTI leaders] will vote for the package due to some reasons," he added. He said, "It is decided during our party's parliamentary meeting that we will not support the constitutional amendment bill." "We did ensure our participation in the parliamentary committee but proposed none of the amendments," he maintained
