Senators from Punjab elected unopposed: 'Parvez efforts' bear fruit

All Punjab candidates for Senate Election have been elected unopposed as Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pavez Elahi has played a vital role for the purpose, sources said on Thursday.
Parvez Elahi contacted the leaderships of PML-N and PPP, and convinced them to get their unelectable candidates withdrawn, the sources said.
As soon as candidates of these two parties withdrew, the election commission announced the name of the candidates elected unopposed.
The elected candidates of PTI are Saifullah Sarwar Niazi, Syed Ali Zafar, Dr Zarqa, Ijaz Chaudhry and Aun Abbas while Kamil Ali Agha belongs to PML-Q. Afnanullah Khan, Saadia Abbasi, Sajid Mir, Irfanul Haq Siddiqui and Azam Nazir Tarar are elected unopposed on PML-N ticket.
The candidates, who withdrew their nomination papers include Muhammad Balighur Rehman, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Zahid Hamid, Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Azeemul Haq Minhas and Saiful Malook Khokhar on general seats.
