Pakistan to launch 5G service by April 2023

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Amir Azeem Bajwa has said that the government intends to launch 5G service in the country by April 2023 and the PTA has started working on the framework to launch the technology, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
PTA chairman Bajwa said that open bidding will be conducted to launch the 5G technology by next year after successful passing of technology on a trial basis.
Earlier, the chairman PTA informed the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology about the launch of the 5G technology.
On Feb 22, PTA had collaborated with Telecom operators and other stakeholders to reduce the digital gender gap in Pakistan via initiatives related to accessibility, affordability and digital skills.
PTA signed agreements with the companies at the ‘Connected Pakistan: Accelerating Gender Inclusion in ICTs. Shaping Digital Futures' event organized by PTA.
The event focused on gender inclusion in ICTs and facilitating the digital empowerment of women in Pakistan through collaboration with national and international companies.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Sania Nishtar graced the occasion as chief guest.
