Homes, fields flooded as raging Punjab rivers burst their banks

Rivers in Punjab, swollen on account of heavy monsoon showers, continue to wreak havoc in different parts of the province and Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
Crops sown over hundreds of acres of land have been destroyed while water has even entered people’s homes following River Indus burst its banks at Layyah.
The district administration, on the other hand, has set up 20 camps for the flood victims.
It has been estimated that 28 villages and 30, 000 people are likely to get affected by floods.
River Indus inundates homes, fields at Karor Lal Esan
Similarly, colossal loss is feared as water from River Indus has entered fields, people’s homes and even swept away roads at Baseera in Karor Lal Esan, forcing the residents to shift to safe places.
Pakistan Army personnel have arrived in the area and are assisting people in the evacuation.
Assistant commissioner Karor Lal Esan has said that the administration is fully prepared to deal with the situation, arising out of floods as it has set up relief camps at different places.
River Sutlej inundates fields, sweeps away homes
Likewise, situation in River Sutlej at Arifwala is worsening by the day as 79,000 cusecs of water has spilled over into dozens of fields and even swept away homes and cattle.
Rescue teams in the area have swung into action and are busy evacuating the people from their homes.
Water level in River Ravi rising
Presently 31,000 cusecs of water is passing through River Ravi at Shahdara, while its level is rising under Shahdara railway bridge, new Ravi bridge and old Ravi bridge.
Rising water levels at these places may cause floods in Lahore, Sahiwal, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari and Bahawalnagar districts.
River Indus at Chashma in medium flood
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), River Indus is in medium flood at Chashma Barrage.
The PDMA says water discharge at the place has been recorded at 386,000 cusecs.
Situation at Head Panjnad, Uch Sharif
Increase has been witnessed in the inflow as well as discharge of water at Uch Sharif, Head Panjnad.
Water level continuously on the rise at Guddu
Water level is continuously rising at Guddu Barrage in River Indus near Kashmore.
The situation has prompted the people living in adjoining katcha area to leave for safe places along with their cattle.
Although currently the river is in low flood at the barrage, the control room has expressed the fear that water level will rise during the next 24 to 48 hours.
Flood situation in Dadu
Road links of several villages with neighbouring towns and cities have been disconnected after River Indus burst its banks in Dadu.
However, relief activities in the area are yet to begin as people have been forced to move to safe places on their own.
