JIT declares Shah Mehmood Qureshi guilty in May 9-related cases

Completing its probe in seven cases registered against the former foreign minister and PTI stalwart Shah Mehmood Qureshi in connection with the May 9 incidents of violence, including the attack on Jinnah House in Lahore, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has declared the PTI stalwart guilty, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Sources in the police told 24News that proof and conflicting statements of the PTI leader led the team to believe that he was involved in these incidents.

In its report, the JIT has said that Qureshi used social media to incite people to violence.

The forensic of videos of the May 9 violence the former foreign minister uploaded on social media accounts is also a part of the report.

Besides that, he failed to satisfy the investigators when he was asked questions about the May 9 violence, the sources said, adding that the Poly Forensic Test also confirmed that he did not speak the truth.  

They informed that the JIT questioned Qureshi in the Adiala Jail and that the challan had now been submitted to the court.
