47,000 wheat gunny bags worth Rs800 million stolen from Khairpur godowns

Around 47,000 gunny bags of wheat worth Rs800 million have been disappeared from various godowns of Sindh Food Department in Khairpur district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

At least three government’s officials including district food controller and supervisors were suspended by the concerned authorities during the initial probe.

According to the details, during the physical verification of the wheat stocks by the officers of the Food department it was revealed that 47,000 gunny bags of wheat were missing from various storehouses of Food Department in district Khairpur.

District Food department confirmed that the wheat bags were stolen from various storehouses in Khairpur, Sitharja, Gumbat, Thari Mir Wah, Choundko, Sikandarabad and other areas. The total cost of the stolen wheat bags was reported to be around Rs800 millions.
