Samsung appears to be gearing up to launch its latest budget-friendly M-series offer Galaxy M16 5G, said a report.

The phone recently surfaced on Geekbench. Positioned as a successor to the Galaxy M15 5G, which debuted in April this year, the Galaxy M16 is already drawing attention for its notable performance improvements over the Galaxy A16.

The Galaxy M16 5G, identified by the model number SM-M166P (via 91mobiles), achieved an impressive 552 points in the Geekbench single-core test and 1611 points in the multi-core test.

These scores surpass those of the Galaxy A16 (even though both phones run on the Dimensity 6300 chipset), which managed 514 and 1464 points respectively, signalling potential enhancements in cooling or a software optimization that prioritizes performance.

The handset also appeared in the Geekbench ML database with an AI performance score of 469, further highlighting its AI capabilities.

Given Samsung’s history of aligning the M-series closely with the A-series, the Galaxy M16 5G may share much of its hardware with the Galaxy A16 5G. Rumoured specifications include a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro unit, and a 13MP front-facing camera.

The device could house a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, similar to its predecessor. The Galaxy M16 5G is expected to maintain the M-series’ reputation for competitive pricing, similar to the Galaxy M15 5G, which launched at ₹12,999 in India. While the Galaxy A16 5G promises six years of OS updates, it remains unclear whether the Galaxy M16 will follow suit.
