Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has removed his LinkedIn profile just four days after creating it, following a wave of online trolling.

Four days ago, Varun made his account on the professional networking platform, LinkedIn and quickly amassed over 20,000 followers.

However, in his profile, he updated his bio which described him as a "passionate actor with 300-crore megahits."

Varun's enthusiasm was short-lived as netizens trolled him over his bio and also mentioned his involvement in content-driven films.

One line in particular, referencing his alleged 300-crore hits, triggered mockery from users, with some questioning which of his films had reached such box-office success.

Varun's LinkedIn bio gave insights about the value of hard work and teamwork and he expressed excitement about networking with professionals outside of the entertainment industry.

His profile was quickly removed, though, since it appeared that the trolling had an effect.

The actor's brief presence on LinkedIn prompted internet users to wonder why he created his profile. Some conjectured that, like previous celebrity pranks, his presence on the platform might have been a part of a promotional scheme.

Others merely voiced their astonishment about the change, with some pointing out that LinkedIn had started to look more like Instagram and other social media sites.
