PM Kakar, Chinese ambassador discuss CPEC projects

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Wednesday said Pakistan was committed to the implementation of projects recently concluded with China in diverse sectors.
He said the recent agreements between the two countries would add a new chapter to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, he said China’s Belt and Road Initiative was the guarantor of the development and prosperity of the entire region.
The prime minister expressed gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Chinese leadership for the warm welcome and arrangements during his recent visit to China.
“Pakistan will take strong steps to implement the Memoranda of Understanding and agreements signed during my recent visit to China,” he said.
He said the friendship between China and Pakistan was “higher than the towering mountains and deeper than the deep seas”.
He mentioned that the people of both countries were benefiting from the fruits of CPEC.
The Chinese ambassador assured the prime minister of China’s full cooperation in the development and economic stability of Pakistan.

Follow-up on Pak-China joint projects
PM Kakar and Planning Minister Sami Saeed met in Islamabad Tuesday and discussed the implementation of the projects concluded during the prime minister’s recent visit to China.
During PM Kakar’s visit to China on October 16-20, the two sides signed 20 agreements and MoUs, covering cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative, infrastructure, mining, industry, green and low-carbon development, health, space cooperation, digital economy, development cooperation and export of agricultural products to China.
The meeting also discussed matters relating to the Ministry of Planning.
Meeting with Wasi Shah
PM Kakar on Wednesday stressed the need for increasing collaboration between the center and provinces to exploit the massive potential of tourism.
The prime minister expressed these views in a meeting with Special Assistant for Tourism Wasi Shah here at the PM House.
PM Kakar said owing to serene natural beauty, huge opportunities existed in Pakistan in the tourism sector.
Wasi Shah briefed the prime minister about the steps taken on tourism at the federal level.
