A case has been registered against four police officials, including SHO Mustafa Town Usman Yunus, for the illegal detention of citizens on the order of Lahore High Court Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Ali Zia Bajwa expressed displeasure at the DIG Investigation and DIG Operations for failing to submit the police file during the hearing of a petition by Saila Khatun and Shabana Kausar.
During the proceedings, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran and DIG Investigation Zeeshan Asghar appeared in court.
The Deputy Prosecutor General, Hafiz Asghar Ali, presented a report on behalf of the DIGs, confirming the registration of the case. Justice Bajwa questioned the status of the investigation against SHO Usman Yunus, inquiring about the submission of the First Information Report (FIR) and the arrest of the SHO.
DIG Investigation Zeeshan Asghar informed the court that the SHO had been "seated" for further investigation. Justice Bajwa expressed dissatisfaction, remarking that the police’s actions and records were inconsistent. He criticized the operations wing's failure to act promptly and warned that this was a test case.
The court adjourned the hearing, giving the Deputy Prosecutor General one day to submit the police file and ensure the arrest of the accused officers.
