Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa has responded to the concerns raised by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah regarding the Supreme Court’s Practice and Procedure Committee (judges committee), 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Thursday.

According to sources, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa addressed the issue in a formal letter, clarifying the recent changes in the Committee’s composition.

In his letter, the Chief Justice explained that Justice Yahya Afridi had initially been approached to join the Committee but excused himself due to personal reasons.

The Chief Justice added that after Justice Afridi’s decision, Justice Aminuddin Khan was included as a Supreme Court’s Practice and Procedure Committee member.

It has been said in the letter too that Justice Muneeb Akhtar's attitude towards senior judges was also not right.

The letter further said that according to the law, the Chief Justice of Pakistan can add any judge he wants to the committee.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah had earlier declined participation in the Committee’s meeting and expressed his reservations over the Presidential Ordinance, which influenced the Committee's formation.

Additionally, the Senior Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, raised questions about the exclusion of Justice Munib Akhtar from the Committee.
