Chilgoza theft case lands in Karachi court

A consumer court on Friday took up a petition which accused senior officials and employees of Karachi Post Office of stealing dry fruit from a registered bag, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Petitioner Arshad told the Karachi’s Consumer Protection Court South of Judicial Magistrate Saifullah Phaleoto that he bought and booked chilgozas (pine nuts) from Mansehra in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Karachi.
He further said that when he received and opened the bag the dry fruit was much lesser in weight than he got booked.
Arshad’s counsel Abdul Hanan told the court that his client should be paid half a million rupees as fine as his trust in the Post Office has been dented.
On the respondents’ request, the court asked them to file their replies by September 11.
It may be mentioned here that chilgoza is an expensive dry fruit in Pakistan as its price had touched Rs8,000 per kilogramme recently.
