Orya Jan in deep trouble as FIA uncovers his role in spreading anti-state propaganda

In a breakthrough in the case involving Orya Maqbool Jan, who was arrested on charges of spreading religious hatred, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) obtained a technical report from Jan's mobile phone, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday. 

According to details shared by sources, this report unveiled a WhatsApp group linked to Orya, which was allegedly involved in propagating negative narratives against key state institutions and senior judiciary members.

Former bureaucrat and YouTuber, Orya Maqbool Jan, who is critical of the Pakistan Army, has been arrested for allegedly inciting religious hatred and defaming institutions, particularly the military.

Jan, 72, was placed under the custody of the FIA cybercrime wing for four days on August 22, following a raid on his residence in Lahore.

The technical report of his cell phone revealed that Jan was actively participating in this WhatsApp group.

 The group was reportedly engaged in creating and disseminating propaganda against government bodies and national security institutions.

 According to the findings, Jan was also involved in scripting anti-institutional content in exchange for monetary compensation.

The group reportedly used deepfake technology to create and distribute fabricated videos and images, specifically targeting government officials and national security agencies.

Orya Jan, along with other members of the group, was allegedly promoting this propaganda with the intent to undermine public trust in state institutions.

These activities suggest a coordinated effort to undermine the credibility of key government bodies and create discord within the country.

The FIA is continuing its investigation to uncover the full extent of the group's operations and the possible involvement of other individuals.
