Bishop of Canterbury arrives at Grand Mosque, Bahria Town

The Bishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, Sunday arrived at Grand Jamia Mosque, Lahore where he was accorded a warm welcome by Special Assistant to Prime Minister Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Bishop of Canterbury, on his arrival at the mosque, was presented the gift of a shawl and Chitrali cap. He was then taken to different parts of the mosque and briefed about its architecture and the antiques placed inside its Quran gallery.
The bishop was also briefed about the use of unique Multani tiles in the construction of the mosque the design of which had been conceived by famous architect of Pakistan Nayyar Ali Dada.
The management of the mosque also informed the bishop about the pulpit, the majestic dome, and the big lamp hanging in the prayer hall.
The quest was also apprised of the ancient copies of the Quran placed in the mosque’s Quran gallery—some written in beautiful Kufic script, and one decorated with intricate designs embroidered in gold wiring.
