Islamabad High Court on Friday reinstated former Chairman of Karachi Port Admiral (retd) Jamil Akhter, suspending the federal government’s notification till the next hearing.
The hearing that was presided by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah issued notices to Secretary of Cabinet Division, the Principal Secretary to PM, Principal Secretary to the President, Secretary Establishment Division, the Ministry of Marine Time Affairs and to the Secretary Marine Affairs.
The applicant’s lawyer argued that his client, Raja Zahurul Hassan, was removed from his office by the government despite the constitution defines a procedure for the removal of Karachi Port chairman.
“Since there was an unexplained hastiness that the federal government reflected in removing the applicant, we’re here to seek the remedy from the court,” the applicant’s lawyer said.
The court ordered both the parties to submit their replies before the next hearing and suspended the notification of the government till the next hearing before adjourning the proceedings until March 31.
