Power outages continue amid 5,018 MW shortfall in country

Electricity loadshedding continues in high losses areas as power shortfall is 5,018 MW in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to the power division sources, the total power generation in the country is 19,982 MW, whereas, the total demand for electricity in the country is 25,000 MW.
5,262 MW of electricity is being generated from water, whereas, the government’s thermal plants are generating 1,317 MW of electricity.
The total electricity production of private sector power plants is 9,963 MW, as per the power division sources.
The power generation from wind power plants is 1,011 MW, whereas, the electricity production from solar plants is zero.
The bagasse-based power plants are generating 149 MW of electricity, and, 2,280 MW of electricity is being produced with nuclear fuel.
Prolonged power outages of up to eight hours are being carried out in different parts of the country.
The duration of loadshedding is longer in areas where the losses are high.
