Pakistan declared second most polluted country; Lahore ranks third globally

Pakistan has been ranked as the second most polluted country in the world with an Air Quality Index (AQI) level of 253, while Lahore has emerged as the third most polluted city globally, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

In Lahore, the AQI spiked alarmingly in several areas, with Raiwind recording an AQI of 738, followed by CERP at 439, Johar Town at 328, the US Consulate at 294, and Askari-10 at 254. 

These readings highlight the severe air pollution crisis gripping the city.

Environmental experts have urged citizens to take precautionary measures to ensure their safety amid deteriorating air quality.

The weather in Lahore is sunny, with temperatures ranging between 26°C and 10°C. 

The humidity level stands at 84%, and winds are blowing at a speed of 2 kilometres per hour. 

The Meteorological Office forecasts cold and dry weather for the coming days.

Multan declared most polluted city of Pakistan.

Multan achieved first position as most city of Pakistan as thick smog once again engulfed entire city of Multan after as Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 324, Multan Cantonment 324, Khanewal Road 475, Bosan Road 463, Bahawalpur 451, Rahim Yar Khan 144, Bahawalnagar 144 points.

Air Quality Index was record 156 in Khanewal, 124 in Sargodha, 118 in Rajanpur, 125 in Muzaffargarh, 130 points in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Experts believe that recent wave of smog erupted due to arising of smoke from industrial units and brick kilns in the city and main cause behind spreading different diseases. They further advised citizens to adopt precautionary measures against smog.
