The situation in Lahore with respect to smog persists as the city with AQI 235 stood second on the list of the world’s most polluted cities on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Meanwhile, Indian farmers continue to burn the residue of crops, adding to pollution in the Punjab capital.
Peshawar emerged as the most polluted city in the country where the AQI stood at 241, while Rawalpindi with AQI 115 was third on the list.
The air quality over the US consulate in Lahore was the worst as it stood at 289.
It was followed by Syed Maratab Ali Road where it was recorded at 276, while it was 260 over the DHA Phase-8.
On the other hand, dense smog has made it extremely difficult for the people of the city to breathe, leading doctors to advise them to exercise caution.
They have advised them to wear facemasks.
To make matters worse, there are no chances of rain in the city during the next 24 hours.
The pollution has forced the Punjab government to change school timings, while the provincial education minister has said that schools may even be closed if the same situation persists.
