Lahore has been declared the most polluted city in the world as thick clouds of dust continue to blanket the city, preventing cold weather from arriving, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Sunday.

According to the channel report, the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) reached an alarming 707, making it the most polluted city not only in Pakistan but globally.

In Lahore, various areas reported severe pollution levels: Thokar Niaz Baig registered an AQI of 878, Johar Town 893, Syed Maratib Ali Road 754, and Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam 633. At the US Consulate, the AQI hit 700, while at Pakistan Engineering Services, it was 688.

The city's current temperature is recorded at 23°C, with expectations of a maximum of 33°C and a minimum of 22°C in the coming days.

The stagnant air conditions and low wind speed have exacerbated the already critical levels of pollution.

The Meteorological Department has ruled out any chance of rainfall in the next 24 hours, which could have helped alleviate the worsening air quality.
