Fawad Ch accuses Election Commission of bias and harassment

Faisal Chaudhry, the lawyer of Fawad Chaudhry, has filed an application in the Election Commission against the District Returning Officer (DRO), Returning Officers (ROs), Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Police Officer (DPO) of Jhelum, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.

He alleged that they were being threatened and harassed by the officials and that his proposer and approver were not allowed to enter the circle.

He also criticized the Election Commission for being inactive and indifferent to the situation. "The whole country is awake but the Election Commission is sleeping," he said.

Faisal Chaudhry also expressed his dissatisfaction with the contempt of court case against him and his client, which is being conducted in jail. He said that he would refer the Islamabad High Court for an open trial, as the jail trial was a violation of basic human rights.

He claimed that they were facing difficulties during the trial in the jail and that cases were made against their family members so that no one could follow them. He said that he had serious reservations about the Election Commission and its impartiality.

"The Election Commission is working in a day-to-day manner despite these conditions," he said. He urged the Election Commission to fulfil its constitutional responsibility and ensure a fair and transparent election process.
