Members of the transgender community in Bannu held a demonstration outside the deputy inspector general’s (DIG) bungalow on Monday to protest against the ban imposed on DJ programmes in the city, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The eunuchs kept shouting slogans against the police during the course of their protest and demanded the lifting of the ban, which has been in effect for the last 40 days.
They said that they did not commit any crime by dancing and singing and that they did all this only to make people happy and earn their livelihood.
They further said that they were willing to give up their profession if only the government provided them with an alternate source of income or announced a monthly stipend for them.
Members of the transgender community said that the ban had forced them to go without food for days.
The protestors regretted that despite their request to the DIG to take some time out for them, the latter was not willing to meet them.
