Navy starts building indigenously-designed gunboat

The construction of Pakistan Navy’s indigenously-designed gunboat has begun, the vessel will be equipped with the advance weapons and technology, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
According to a spokesperson of Pakistan Navy, the ceremony was held at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works. Vice Admiral Awais Ahmed Bilgrami, Commander of the Pakistan Fleet, was the chief guest of the event. The ceremony was also attended by the officers of Pakistan Navy and Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.
On this occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the joint efforts of Pakistan Navy, Ministry of Defense Production and Karachi Shipyard for developing the first indigenously designed gunboat.
Speaking at the event, the MD of Karachi Shipyard said that Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works is striving to achieve self-reliance in the defense shipbuilding industry.
