In a reference to former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Sunday that the man who had claimed that he would make Pakistan as prosperous as Dubai turned it bankrupt, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a public gathering at Shikarpur, he, while calling Imran a ‘fitna’ (mischief), said that in case he came to power again, the JUI-F would be at the forefront in the battle against him.

He alleged that the general elections of 2018 were rigged to facilitate the PTI’s ascent to power. “The way the country’s economy came crashing down during five years of the PTI government was unprecedented,” he added.

Deploring that the country’s economic situation was not good, Fazl said it was unfortunate that the countries to which Pakistan gave loans in the past, now gave loans to Pakistan.

The JUI-F chief said that the party’s politics was above sectarian differences. “There are two things that the country needs: protection of human rights and economic prosperity,” he said, and added that things had come to such a pass that Afghanistan’s currency was now stronger than that of Pakistan.

He said it was said that there was no rule of law in the country.

Reiterating his allegation that the PTI was responsible for the destruction of the country’s economy, he said that Imran deceived the masses by lying to them. “He received funds from Israel, India and USA to lead youth astray,” he claimed.

He accused the ex-PTI chairman of working on an agenda to recognize Israel while he was the country’s prime minister.

Fazl also deplored the double standards practiced by West, saying that while on one hand it had given a green signal to Israel to go ahead with its massacre of Palestinians, on the other it preached the protection of human rights.
