New tax on telecom: Cellular service providers to raise concerns with IT minister

A delegation of cellular service providers will meet IT Minister Aminul Haque tomorrow (Tuesday), 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Monday.
The mobile phone operators will take up their reservations about tax on telecom sector with the information technology minister at the meeting, sources said.
The insiders added that they would raise their concerns over 75 paisa tax on five-minute call in the budget with the minister.
Sources in sector said the levy on specific time duration has never been imposed in the world and such a tax is being introduced in the country where the sector has already been bearing with 32 paisa general sale tax (GST) and 20 paisa withholding tax (WHT).
In such circumstance, the sector would be bearing the burden of tax up to 70 per cent, the insiders claimed. Reportedly, Prime Minister Imran Khan will be at his chamber in National Assembly tomorrow to gear up for budget approval by the lower house of the parliament.
