A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court to restore Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) electoral symbol and allocate reserved seats on Thursday.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Engineer Qazi Muhammad Saleem has filed a petition in the SC, requesting the restoration of electoral symbol 'Bat' and the allocation of reserved seats to independent assembly members who join PTI.
The petition argues that revoking PTI's electoral symbol, the "bat," constitutes discriminatory treatment against the country's largest party as foreign reports indicated that PTI's independent candidates received the most votes in the elections.
The situation deteriorated after the SC's decision regarding the electoral symbol, which led the Election Commission to prevent PTI from participating in the elections.
The petition emphasizes that PTI should be granted reserved seats for political stability in the country.
The Supreme Court and the Election Commission have been named as respondents in the petition.
