11 arrested in Muridke over child marriage

Eleven people were arrested when police raided an underage marriage event in Muridke on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As per details, 5-year-old girl Bisma and 11-year-old Abrar were married by force in Murikdke while the police officials reached the spot and registered a case against 11 people including Imran, the father of the bride.
Moreover, the police registered a case against the groom's grandfather Yusuf, Amjad Bashir Akram Salman Munshi Arshad, and Maulvi Umar Hayat.
The case has been registered by the police in Sadar police station Muridke on the complaint of Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Younas.
The police are still conducting raids to arrest other members involved in the crime.
Furthermore, Bisma’s father Imran kidnapped a married woman in the village a few days ago and returned her to the police after 21 days.
Chaudhary of the village held a Panchayat and married five-year-old Bisma to 13-year-old Abrar as a punishment.
The District Police Officer (DPO) Bilal Zafar Sheikh took immediate notice of the forced child marriage.
