PTI workers sent on physical remand

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday granted physical remand of several workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who were arrested during the party’s November 24 protest in Islamabad.
At least 169 PTI workers, who were arrested in Sadiqabad, New Town and Dhamial police precincts, were produced in the anti-terrorism court on Thursday. As many as 35 PTI workers, who were arrested in Sadiqabad and Dhamial police precincts, were sent to Adiala Jail on 14-day physical remand. Ten people were discharged from the case after their lawyers argued their case in the court.
Moreover, the anti-terrorism court granted five-day physical remand of 77 PTI workers who were arrested in Sadiqabad police precincts. The court directed the authorities to produce them again on December 3.
Also, the ATC granted six-day physical remand of 69 PTI workers who were arrested in New Town police precincts and directed the authorities to produce them in the court again on December 4.
Islamabad Police Inspector General (IG) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said on Wednesday that 954 protesters were arrested during three days of PTI's protest and 610 of them were arrested on Tuesday alone.
Speaking at a press conference alongside the Islamabad Chief Commissioner, Rizvi said that more than 200 vehicles were seized in addition to 39 weapons including Kalashnikovs and 12-bore guns from the protesters.
