52% corona cases locally transmitted in Punjab: Govt data

Punjab Home Department Corona Crisis Management Cell report on Wednesday said that 52.4 percent cases have been locally transmitted among 5947 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Punjab as there are 47,931 suspected patients and so far 1553 patients have been recovered from deadly coronavirus that has killed 100 people in Pakistan’s largest province.
As per the report, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi districts are leading in positive coronavirus cases while the death rate due to coronavirus stands at 1.71 percent. Out of all patients 13.2 percent are Zaireen (Iran returned), 33 percent are among Tableeghi Jamaat and 1.5 percent are prisoners.
Stranded Pakistanis
Pakistan International Airlines and other airlines have so far operated 25 flights in Lahore and other airports in the province bringing back 4723 passengers in which 2233 have been released on their test results report came in negative while, there are 267 positive cases and 254 reports are awaited.
Tableeghi Jamaat status on April 29 is as follows: There are 11414 Tableeghi Jamaat members quarantined in Punjab in earlier stage but now there are 1968 currently quarantined while 621 in Sindh, 76 in Gilgit Baltistan, and 243 in Balochistan.
The Home Department report quoting The Urban Unit said that so far 155,537 tests have been conducted across Pakistan and there are 14, 885 positive coronavirus cases in Pakistan.
On the other hand, as per the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, there are 5827 confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Punjab (97 new cases today).
As per the data sheet of P&S Health care dept, there are 3048 citizens, 1926 Tableeghi Jamaat members, 768 Zaireen and 86 prisoners confirmed cases being quarantined in Punjab. Out of 110 deaths reported in Punjab, most number of deaths were reported in Lahore (49).
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar is on a one-day visit to Sialkot and he will be visiting Corona Field Hospital, Ehsaas Cash Centres, Child Protection Bureau, Inspection of Flood Protection arrangements, wheat procurement center and a meeting with PTI office-holders, MPAs, ticket-holders and ministers.
