Baseerat Shinwari has become the first woman candidate from Orakzai district to step into the political arena after the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).


Contesting from PK 94 Orakzai, Baseerat Shinwari is setting a precedent for women's participation in the political landscape of the region.


A total of 33 candidates from Orakzai district have submitted their nomination papers to vie for positions in the upcoming elections. Among them, Baseerat Shinwari stands out as a trailblazer, emphasizing the need for women to actively engage in the political process.


"Now is the time for women to step forward," declared Basrat Shinwari, expressing her commitment to paving the way for more women to enter politics in the future.


She emphasized that while promoting women's rights, it is essential to consider and respect the tribal traditions of the region.


"The aim is to encourage women to play a vital role in the political arena, and it is crucial to ensure that their rights are granted in accordance with our tribal traditions," stated Basrat Shinwari.


Drawing inspiration from a woman candidate from Khyber district who participated in previous elections, Shinwari underscored that women from Orakzai can and should actively engage in the electoral process.
