Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Wednesday perhaps PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto was oblivious of fact as to why Pakistan gave India consular access to condemned spy Kulbushan Jadhav.

The FM reacted to Bilawal’s remarks on Jadhav case during a press conference. Bilawal labelled Prime Minister Imran Khan a ‘counsel’ for the convict.

Pakistan has acted upon the judgement of International Court of Justice (ICJ) that rejected Indian request for Jadhav’s acquittal, release and return, and asked Pakistan to give India consular access to Jadhav and fair trial.

The foreign minister said India wanted to move the international court against Pakistan again through raising objections over one pretext and another.

He said Islamabad removed Delhi diplomats’ reservations about arrangement for consular access but Indian authorities are not serious over the matter.

Jadhav has right to appeal but he refused the offer and India is too uninterested in filing a review, he added. Dubbing Bilawal a ‘child’, Qureshi said he called the PPP chairperson ‘child’ as he knew him since his childhood.

A Pakistan military court awarded Jadhav death sentence on April 10, 2017 after he admitted that he mounted operations for India to conduct terrorist activities in Pakistan. Initially, Delhi disowned Jadhav, but later it moved the ICJ.
