Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) sit-in against inflation and high electricity tariffs at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi has entered its fourth day, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing the participants of a sit-in at Liaquat Bagh Rawalpindi on late Sunday night, Hafiz Naeem said that JI will force the government to bow to public demands. JI chief made it clear that the sit-in will end when all the demands are accepted. He demanded that the government reduce the salary slab, and reduce the price of electricity.

He said JI will now allow the govt to continue with IPPs. He said IPPs business was started by PPP since 1994 and PML brought it to its peak. He said some forces wanted to create disappointment among the youth. He said few forces wanted to create rights in our ranks. He told the workers that if they get divided their enemies will get more powerful.

JI chief said that this sit–in was going to change the landscape of the country. He said it was not the elite class rather a usurpers group was ruling the country. He told the nation that they have to get united for their rights. He said this a long fight and we had to resist the powerful elite. He said containers and lockdown of major roads can not stop JI workers.

He said that the government was talking as if they were kids, they didn't know anything. He urged the youth to stand up and fight for their rights. Hafiz Naeem said that now the issue will not end only with the IPPs, government has to end levy charges on petroleum prices.

JI deputy Liaquat Baloch said that the sit-in caused unrest in the ranks of the government therefore it formed a committee for talks. He said the federal minister has no option to reject JI demands because the JI delegation talks to the government delegation with the record. He said IPPs were frauds. He said till the acceptance of their demands, JI sit-in will continue.
