Substandard Indian medicines have been killing children in Uzbekistan, Indonesia and various other African countries since 2022, according to a new investigation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a global alert on this issue in December last year, but the deaths have continued in countries such as Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Gambia, Liberia and Nigeria.
It was also revealed that Indian pharmaceutical companies have been using industrial quality hazardous ingredients in the manufacture of these medicines and have even paid 60 thousand dollars as a bribe to hide their heinous crime. The medicines included cough syrup, paracetamol syrup and eye drops. The eye drops caused an epidemic in America in February this year.
Most countries are now reconsidering the import of other products from India due to the outrage against fake medicines.
