Making it clear that he would not tolerate ‘indiscipline’ in the House, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan on Saturday constituted an ethics committee to ensure that members of the provincial assembly (MPAs) did not use foul language against each other and did not resort to hooliganism, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The speaker said that yesterday some MPAs made indecent remarks against each other and even shouted abuses at each other. “It appears that political differences between the MPAs have now turned into animosities. I have suspended the membership of these MPAs for the ongoing session because I have zero tolerance for such people who are bringing bad name to each other,” he said, adding, “Whosoever will spoil the atmosphere of the House, I will take action against him or her.”

Let me make this clear to you, the speaker went on to say, that the assembly was not a container or a venue for a public gathering. “Everybody has the right to protest. But at the same time, it is binding on each and every assembly member to show respect for the House.”
