A case was registered against a member of ‘estranged’ Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) group and MPA, Nazir Ahmad Chohan, Saturday on the complaint of Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Accountability and Interior Mirza Shahzad Akbar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In an application the SAPM had given to Race Course police station, Lahore on May 20 for the registration of a case against Chohan, he had stated that Chohan had levelled false accusations against him in a TV talk show.

“These accusations may put my life in danger,” Shahzad said, and added, “And since the purpose of levelling allegations against me was to discourage me from conducting the probe into corruption cases, therefore strict action be taken against member of the JKT group.”

Later, while announcing the registration of a case against MPA Nazir Ahmad Chohan in a tweet, SAPM Mirza Shahzad Akbar said that those using the ‘religion card’ had no place in people’s hearts.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, too, has voiced his opposition to calling Shahzad Akbar a ‘Qadiyani’.

In a tweet, he said the SAPM was performing his duties well. “Using religion card for personal interests is condemnable,” he said, and demanded Lahore police take strict action against Chohan.

Later talking to the media in Lahore, member of ‘estranged’ Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) group Nazir Ahmad Chohan asked police to come to Data Darbar, the shrine of popular Sufi saint Hazrat Ali Hajveri (RA), and arrest him since he was a law-abiding citizen and was himself willing to surrender.

He accused Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability and Interior (SAPM) Shahzad Akbar of pressuring police to register case against him.

He asked the SAPM to explain his position with respect to the allegation that he was a ‘Qadiani’.

He vowed that those conspiring against Pakistan would not be spared. “I stick to my opinion even today, and will fight till the end,” he resolved.

He opined that Prime Minister Imran Khan had non-political people in his cabinet.

The member of JKT group said the group would accept whatever decision the court pronounced in Jahangir Khan Tareen’s case.

Tareen group reacts strongly

Tareen group spokesperson reacting over the registration of the case against MPA Nazir Chauhan by the PM Advisor Shehzad Akbar termed it an irresponsible move.

The JKT group spokesperson said this was n attempt to create a new crisis and trouble for the ruling party and Imran Khan’s government and the PTI.

He suggested that if there was any problem or issue, it could be resolved through dialogue, adding to withdraw the case against the JKT group member immediately to resolve issues through negotiations.
