The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad has arrested three individuals involved in issuing fake technical degrees, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
The arrested suspects, identified as Zeeshan Zahid, Umar Farooq, and Ahsanuddin, were apprehended during raids conducted in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The crackdown targeted bogus and unregistered institutes, including the Modern Institute of Informatics, Johar Institute of Information Technology Islamabad, and International College of Education.
The accused were found to be running these fake institutions, issuing fraudulent diplomas, certificates, and degrees to unsuspecting citizens for substantial sums of money.
The action was initiated following a complaint by Navitech, leading to the discovery of a large quantity of fake technical degrees, certificates, cards, and diploma-making equipment. Additionally, fake seals, diploma stickers, blank certificates, letterheads, and an embossing machine were seized during the raids.
The suspects had been advertising these fraudulent educational services through various newspapers and social media platforms. Following their arrest, an investigation has been launched, with further raids underway to apprehend other individuals involved in the scam.
