Voting underway in Supreme Court Bar Association elections

Voting is underway in different cities of the country in the annual elections for the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The polling, which began at 8:30 in the morning, will continue until 5 in the evening.
Asma Jahangir group’s Mian Muhammad Rauf Ata and Hamid Khan group’s Munir Ahmad Kakar are running for the seat of the president. Both candidates belong to Balochistan.
Suleman Mansoor and Malik Zahid Aslam Awan are competing for the post of secretary.
In Punjab, Rana Bakhtiar and Rana Ghulam Sarwar are vying for the seat of vice president, while there are seven candidates for the same position from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh and Balochistan.
Malik Khushkhal Khan, Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi and Yousaf Maulvi are the candidates from Sindh.
There are four candidates for the seat of member executive in Sindh namely Amir Jameel Virk, Ahmad Ali Diwan, Naveedul Haq and Rizwana Jameel.
Muhammad Aurangzeb Khan and Raja Zubair Hussain Jarral are the candidates for the seat of additional secretary.
Aurangzeb Mir and Chaudhry Tanvir Akhtar are running for the seat of finance secretary.
As many as 4,021 voters from across the country will cast their votes in today’s elections.
There are 769 voters in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, while 1,404 in the SC’s Lahore registry, 516 in Karachi and 274 in Multan.
Over 20 polling booths have been set up in the apex court’s Lahore registry.
CCTV cameras and LCDs have been installed outside the polling stations for security purposes.
