Asif Mehmood Jah appointed as federal ombudsman

The federal government has appointed Asif Mehmood Jah as the new federal ombudsman, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Jah, who belongs to Pakistan Customs, had applied for premature retirement from the department but he is now posted as new Federal Ombudsman.
President Arif Alvi on Wednesday gave approval to Jah’s appointment following advice by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Asif Jah has become the 8th Federal Ombudsman.
In 2015, Dr Asif Mahmood Jah who was then posted as Collector Customs (Appeals) Lahore received Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan in recognition of valuable services rendered for humanity.
Dr Asif replaced outgoing federal Mohtasib Syed Tahir Shahbaz.
Pertinent to note that Syed Tahir Shahbaz took oath on 21st July 2017 as 7th regular Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman) of Pakistan.
Prior to his appointment as Wafaqi Mohtasib, he was Secretary Establishment Division, Government of Pakistan
