New policy issued for medical and dental college admissions across Punjab

Department of Specialized Healthcare And Medical Education Thursday issued a notification about the new policy for admissions in medical and dental colleges across Punjab.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the policy for admissions in private and government medical and dental colleges for the year 2023-2024 was released. It stated that the University of Health Sciences (UHS) will be in charge of all the admissions.
The marks of the medical entry test (MDCAT) will have 50% weightage in the admission while Intermediate (F.Sc) will be 40% and matric will have 10%.
For admission in medical colleges, 55% in MDCAT while 50% for admission in Dental colleges has been made mandatory. In the intermediate exams, 60% marks are compulsory. FSC or equivalent education from abroad is now mandatory for overseas Pakistanis. The medical entry test results from the previous year will not be acceptable
For application of admission, candidates will apply through the online admission portal of UHS with a payment of Rs2000 for both public and private institutes. They have been given the facility to make changes in the application form till the last date. The candidate will have to submit the college fee within three days of being nominated in the medical or dental selection list.
The last date for admissions in government medical colleges is December 31 while that in private medical colleges is January 31. The admissions in government dental colleges will be closed on February 15 and on February 28 in private ones. The classes in medical and dental colleges will commence on February 1 and March 1 respectively.
