FBR's IRIS system down, taxpayers facing difficulties in filing returns

A technical fault erupted in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) IRIS system. Taxpayers and tax consultants complained that they are facing difficulties in filing tax returns as the IRIA system is functioning too slowly, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Sunday.
According to details, various mistakes are being noticed in final numbers due to technical faults in FBR’s software.
Tax consultants said despite having NTN that they are still unable to obtain withholding tax data (WHT) for filing tax returns.
Federal Board of Revenue decided not to extend the date of filing income tax returns. They advised the general public to file their returns no later than September 20, 2024, which is the last date for filing income tax returns.
It is necessary to mention here that around 19,26,000 taxpayers already filed their tax returns, while the Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) and Lahore Tax Bar Association (LTBA) appealed to the Federal Board of Revenue to extend the date for filing of income tax returns.
