Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) announcing the closure of Rojhan Radar Services till Sept 22; resultantly, flights from India and other countries could not avail the services in 220 nautical miles, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

CAA NOTAM said that floodwaters are still present in the radar installments and it has been decided to shut down the radar services in Rojhan till Sept 13 as part of precautionary measures.

CAA said that flights from India and other counties could not be able to avail the services within 220 nautical miles. However, Rojhan Radar data will be available in Lahore and Karachi control areas.

All planes coming into Rojhan Radar Service Area will ‘procedure control’ at a distance of 10 minutes.

Pertinent to note that, Rojhan Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR), Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) and Elevated Very High Frequency (EVHF) tower remained off the air due to the accumulation of flood water since August 22nd.

“During this period data of other radars, ADS-B and EVHF will remain available at Area Control Center (ACC) Jinnah International Air Port (JIAP) - Karachi and Area Control Center (ACC) Allama Iqbal International Air Port (AIIAP),” reads the then NOAM issued by CAA.
