Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Monday criticized the move to vacate universities hostels saying universities should not have been vacated to accommodate Afghan refugees and foreign nationals, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sheikh Rasheed said JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman claimed all hotels have been vacated to accommodate US nationals. Contrary to the fact, he said that foreigners are being granted only transit visas to Islamabad only.
He said that universities in Punjab should not have been vacated.
Sheikh Rasheed said that on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the National Crisis Information Management Cell (NCIMC) would be headed by Agha Momin, adding that the National Action Plan would be headed by Brigadier Mussadiq.
The Minister said that all costs of evacuation from Afghanistan will be borne by the respective ‘sponsoring companies’ and relevant companies will also pay the parking fee at the airport.
“Pakistan has provided transit visas to 1,687 people at Islamabad Airport and 2,192 people at Torkham Border crossing coming from Afghanistan,” he said.
He said Pakistan was going to be part of international politics and opposition parties in Pakistan are playing petty politics.
Sheikh Rasheed revealed that FIA recovered Rs20 billion.
He also reiterated that whenever PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif wants to return to the country, the ministry will issue him a visa within 24 hours, adding that the leader of the country should not run away like this as jails are usually the second home to politicians.
