A Senate standing committee has proposed relief in electricity bills, 24News HD TV channel reported Wednesday.

The primary focus of the recommendation is to alleviate the financial strain on the public caused by electricity costs.

The proposal was directed towards the finance minister, with the committee emphasizing the importance of revisiting the current structure of taxes associated with electricity bills.

This move comes in response to the protests by citizens over the increasing bills, which include a significant portion of taxes.

By suggesting a potential reduction in these taxes, the committee aims to make electricity bills more manageable for the general populace

According to Senator Saleem Mandviwala, the standing committee has recommended reconsidering the taxes on electricity bills.

He mentioned that if the government is able to reduce taxes, it should.

He also noted that many taxes are included in electricity prices on bills.

As consumers continue to grapple with the economic challenges posed by such costs, this proposal signals a proactive step towards providing tangible relief.
